I am the CEO and co-founder of EGOGO hub, an end-to-end solution E-Commerce service provider in Indonesia.  In 2018, I have found a big opportunity in Indonesia, as I have seen the digital transformation and E-commerce growth happening in the country.

我是EGOGO hub的首席執行官和聯合創始人,這是一家印尼的終端對終端的電子商務解決方案服務提供商。2018年,我在印尼發現了一個巨大的機遇,因為我看到了這個國家正在發生的數字轉型和電子商務增長。

 

Why Indonesia?  
為什麼選擇印尼?

Indonesia is a country ideal for E-commerce business.  With its large and young population, and growing middle class, E-commerce is booming and getting very popular.  Indonesia also has been attracting big Tech companies investing into and building up their digital infrastructures, which means Indonesia has one of the highest internet and mobile phone penetration rate in South East Asia.

印尼是電子商務的理想國度。隨著龐大的年輕人口和不斷壯大的中產階級,電子商務正蓬勃發展,越來越受歡迎。印尼也一直在吸引大型科技公司投資和建設它們的數字基礎設施,這意味著印尼是東南亞互聯網和手機普及率最高的國家之一。

What are the challenges?  
面對哪些挑戰嗎?

During the past 3 years of business in Indonesia, our service has generated many interested from both local and International businesses that wanted to expand their business into Indonesia using E-commerce.  Of course, there are many challenges to do business in a developing country.  It is because of these challenges, which makes our company able to add value to our clients by solving these problems.  

For International brands, most of the issues that we have to face are the logistic, importation, tax and fund flow.  How do we get a product certified and imported into Indonesia?  How do we calculate the import tax and local tax?  When we sell a product, how do we pay our customer back who are located oversea and using their own currency?

As for local clients, the main issue we faced is that I was seen as an outsider who is trying to teach them how to do business in their own country.  These indeed a challenges, however in time, EGOGO and its team has proven to our client that we are able to help and grow their business.  Given the pandemic happened in 2020, the demand for digital transformation has grown exponentially.  Our team is more than ever dedicated ourselves to commit to help our client in Indonesia to survive and be successful in this new digital era.

在過去三年的印尼業務中,我們的服務吸引了許多當地和國際企業的興趣,他們希望通過電子商務將業務擴展到印尼。當然,在發展中國家做生意有很多挑戰。正是因為這些挑戰,我們的公司才能通過解決這些問題為我們的客戶增加價值。 

對於國際品牌來說,我們面臨的主要問題是物流、進口、稅收和資金流動。我們如何使產品獲得認證並進口到印尼? 進口稅和地方稅如何計算? 當我們銷售產品時,我們如何償還我們的客戶在海外和使用他們自己的貨幣? 

至於本地客戶,我們面臨的主要問題是,我被視為一個局外人,試圖教他們如何在自己的國家做生意。這些確實是一個挑戰,然而,隨著時間的推移,EGOGO和它的團隊已經向我們的客戶證明,我們有能力幫助和發展他們的業務。鑒於2020年發生的疫情大流行,對數字轉型的需求呈指數級增長。我們的團隊比以往任何時候都更致力於幫助我們在印尼的客戶在這個新的數字時代生存和成功。

How do you see Indonesia in 5 years?  
你認為5年內印尼會怎樣?

I continue to see Indonesia as a country full of potential.  The digital transformation in the country is leading many of its neighbours, the continue attraction of big tech companies investing into the country and also the creation of many of its local new innovative tech companies, all these are signs that the country is moving into the right direction.  There will be many new technologies coming into our life in the next 5 years, AI, AR, Block Chain, 5G etc.  As long as there is a group of young and energetic minds continue to work hard and innovate, the future looks bright.

我仍然認為印尼是一個充滿潛力的國家。國家的數位化轉型正引領著許多鄰國、大型科技公司投資印尼的持續吸引力,同時許多本土創新科技公司的誕生。所有這些都表明,印尼正朝著正確的方向前進。未來5年將有很多新技術進入我們的生活,AI、AR、區塊鏈、5G等。只要有一群年輕而有活力的年輕人繼續努力工作和創新,前途是光明的。
