Indonesia offers a demographic bonus, with the majority of the population being young people of productive age. The growing population of the middle class is looking for local medical demand (preventive healthcare), there is a need for wider coverage and better healthcare service.
What are the challenges?
Healthcare spending in Indonesia is far below than its neighbouring countries. The gap in between supply and demand of healthcare service is quite large.
What do you think about Indonesia in 5 years?
Medical & healthcare industry will have a high potential to grow in the next 5 years. Recently, there are lots of rich local people seeking for medical treatment in nearby countries like Singapore and Thailand. The demand for people seeking for medical treatment is also growing gradually. The growing population of middle class will also look for local medical support. The middle class (7M people/year) create a change in habit and lifestyle and this is estimated a need for wider and better healthcare service in the country. People will put more effort and spending to maintain good health. Due to the lack of healthcare infrastructure, this is an opportunity for foreign investors to provide healthcare services in the Indonesian market. In conclusion, the healthcare industry will grow rapidly.
