Hong Kong and Indonesia fight against the epidemic (2021 Aug)
Hong Kong and Indonesia fight against the epidemic
As the new variant of Covid-19 spreads rampantly across Indonesia. The Indonesia Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (InachamHK) is obliged by our community to organize aid to relive the desperate situation.
As the country with the largest number of Indonesian with Chinese-descent, Indonesia has long established a deep relationship with Hong Kong and China, not to mention with many Indonesian diasporas from both regions fostering a vibrant business and cultural exchange. The bond between Hong Kong and Indonesia has long been inseparable.
Recently, the new wave of Covid-19 Delta variant has caused much suffering and desperation for many Indonesians, and local demand for medical aids are in short supply. To this end, InachamHK and the Hong Kong Federation of Overseas Chinese Associations Charitable Foundation. donated a total of HK$ 500,000 to purchase one hundred oxygen concentrators from Guangdong OWGELS Science & Technology Co., Ltd. and donated them to local hospitals via of Yayasan BUMN Untuk Indonesia. This could not have happened without the support of the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong.
The oxygen concentrators were sent from Hong Kong International Airport in the early morning of 23th August 2021 via Garuda Indonesia airline, arriving in Jakarta on the same day. All units were stored in government warehouses and distributed to designated hospitals after completing the clearance procedures.
The arrangement of this donation was carried out swiftly and with actively proposed by the business community in Hong Kong, taking a total of ten days to mobilize one hundred units of oxygen concentrator from China to Indonesia.
Once again, special thanks to Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong for its relentless assistance and support throughout the process.
This donation was only made possible by the Hong Kong Federation of Overseas Chinese Associations Charitable Foundation, the Hong Kong Overseas Chinese General Association and various Indonesian organizations working closely together. Generous donors include but are not limited to: Mr. James Hartono, Mr. YU Guo Chun, Mr. CHAN Chun Keung, Mr. Tjia Boen Sien, Mr. Li Chang Sheng, Mr. Zhang Ren Qiang, Mr. Liang Gan Ji, Mr. Ye Lian Yi, and Mr. CHAN Pak Lam Brian. Once again InachamHK thank all parties for their support.
